How I Spent My Day Today by Masood Sadiq

    Today when I started my class I saw some colourful packs of sweets that my students had brought for all of the teachers to celebrate their results of the Secondary School Examination. First I called the roll-call and then I asked about their results. Everybody was so happy and eager to tell her marks. It was really surprising to hear that two or three of them had scored 100% marks i.e 1100 out of 1100. It was really surprising and I was really stunned to hear such outstanding marks in my whole career. Students did appear in 9th grade/class, too. The marks will be calculated on the basis of the examination of the 10th class.

Actually, due to the corona pandemic, the government announced that the students would appear only science subjects-Math, Chemistry, Physics, Biology- this year. The total marks of these subjects are equal to 600 including the marks of practicals. (there conducted no practicals also). And the rest of the marks were related to Arts subjects - English, Urdu, Pak St, & Islamic St- i.e 500. Now there was a very surprising policy announced by the ministry of education, which is as follows:

• Students will appear in only four subjects-Math, Chemistry, Physics, & Bio
• Marks of Arts subjects will be calculated with respect to the percentage of the science subjects, including practical marks.
• Practical marks will be added as 30 for each subject if the student gets 60 marks in Phy, Chemistry and Bio respectively.
• Those who get less than 60 marks will get 29 and so on.
• Total marks in Mathematics i.e 75/75 ( 75x2= 150)
• Marks of 9th class/grade will be awarded equal to that of 10th class.

Thus the student could get full marks in science subjects. So those who have scored full marks in science subjects were awarded full marks in Arts subjects, too. What a move and outstanding results!Those who were unable to get full marks in science subjects were entitled to have 5% additional marks in Arts subjects, too. The rest of the results were also stunning and unbelievable. I have never heard it before in my life. Really surprising and marvellous!   

Now all the teachers are surprised to see such outstanding results!

آج جب میں نے اپنی کلاس شروع کی تو میں نے مٹھائی کے کچھ رنگ برنگے پیک دیکھے جو میرے طلباء نے تمام اساتذہ کے لیے اپنے ثانوی اسکول امتحان کے نتائج منانے کے لیے لائے تھے۔  پہلے میں نے رول کال کی اور پھر میں نے ان کے نتائج کے بارے میں پوچھا۔  ہر کوئی اس کے نمبر بتانے کے لیے بہت خوش اور بے چین تھا۔  یہ سن کر واقعی حیرت ہوئی کہ ان میں سے دو یا تین نے 100 فیصد نمبر حاصل کیے ہیں یعنی 1100 میں سے 1100۔  طلباء نویں جماعت/کلاس میں بھی حاضر ہوئے۔  نمبروں کا حساب دسویں جماعت کے امتحان کی بنیاد پر لیا جائے گا۔

 دراصل ، کورونا وبائی امراض کی وجہ سے ، حکومت نے اعلان کیا کہ طلباء اس سال صرف سائنس کے مضامین یعنی ریاضی ، کیمسٹری ، طبیعیات ، حیاتیات میں شرکت کریں گے۔  ان مضامین کے کل نمبر 600 کے برابر ہیں جن میں پریکٹیکل کے نمبر بھی شامل ہیں۔  (وہاں کوئی عملی کام بھی نہیں کیا گیا)۔  اور باقی نمبر آرٹس کے مضامین سے متعلق تھے- انگریزی ، اردو ، پاک سینٹ ، اور اسلامک سینٹ یعنی 500۔

 طلباء صرف چار مضامین میں نظر آئیں گے-ریاضی ، کیمسٹری ، طبیعیات ، اور بائیو۔

 آرٹس مضامین کے مارکس سائنس کے مضامین کے فیصد کے حساب سے شمار کیے جائیں گے ، بشمول عملی نمبر۔

 اگر ہر طالب علم کو بالترتیب Phy ، کیمسٹری اور Bio میں 60 نمبر ملتے ہیں تو عملی نمبر 30 کے طور پر شامل کیے جائیں گے۔

  ے60 سے  کم نمبر حاصل کرنے والوں کو 29 وغیرہ ملیں گے۔

 ریاضی میں کل نمبر یعنی 75/75 (75x2 = 150)

 نویں کلاس/گریڈ کے نمبر دسویں کلاس کے برابر دیئے جائیں گے۔

 اس طرح طالب علم سائنس کے مضامین میں مکمل نمبر حاصل کر سکتا ہے۔  لہذا جن لوگوں نے سائنس کے مضامین میں مکمل نمبر حاصل کیے ہیں انہیں بھی آرٹس کے مضامین میں مکمل نمبر دیئے گئے۔  کیسا اقدام اور شاندار نتائج! - جو لوگ سائنس کے مضامین میں مکمل نمبر حاصل کرنے سے قاصر تھے وہ بھی آرٹس کے مضامین میں 5 فیصد اضافی نمبر حاصل کرنے کے حقدار تھے۔  باقی نتائج بھی شاندار اور ناقابل یقین تھے۔  میں نے اپنی زندگی میں پہلے کبھی نہیں سنا۔  واقعی حیرت انگیز اور حیرت انگیز!

 اب تمام اساتذہ اس طرح کے شاندار نتائج دیکھ کر حیران ہیں!
