Short Paragraph on How I spent my Yesterday (370 words)

Every dawn brings some new challenges and promises to fulfil every day. I always expect and learn something new. Yesterday when I entered my new class, comprising seventy students, I saw some new faces. It was a combined class after a coronavirus pandemic session of more than one and a half years. I did really enjoy my lecture. Firstly I made them read the lesson of the novel - Goodbye Mr Chips-. Then gave them one Urdu paragraph to translate into English. Before the translation I made them note the following structure of the Past Tense:

Subject + V2nd (main verb) + Object

(Active Voice)

  1. She rang the bell. 
  2. She did not ring the bell.
  3. Did she ring the bell?
  4. Did she not ring the bell?

She (subject) rang (V2nd –the main verb) 

the (determiner) 

bell (object-countable noun).

(Passive Active Voice)

Method of Passive Voice

Object+ was/were- auxiliary+ Past Participle of the main verb+ preposi phrase


The bell was rung by her.

Other options:

  1. The bell was rung by her.
  2. The bell was not rung by her
  3. Was the bell not rung by her?
  4. Was the bell rung by her.

     Today when I started my class I saw some colourful packs of sweets that my students had brought for all of the teachers to celebrate their results of the Secondary School Examination. First I called the roll-call and then I asked about their results. Everybody was so happy and eager to tell her marks. It was really surprising to hear that two or three of them had scored 100% marks i.e 1100 out of 1100. It was really surprising and I was really stunned to hear such outstanding marks in my whole career.  Students did appear in 9th grade/class, too. The marks will be calculated on the basis of the examination of the 10th class. Actually, due to the corona pandemic, the government announced that the students would appear only science subjects- Math, Chemistry, Physics, Biology - this year.
