Use of was , were , & did in English

'was' is used with I, he, she, it and a Singular Noun in the Past Tense

For Example:

  • She was my good teacher. (PastTense)
  • He was good a good player of tennis. 
  • I was not present in the hall yesterday. 

'were ' is used with we, they, you and a Plural Noun in the Past Tense

For Example:

  • They were all good players. (Past Tense)
  • You were not present at home. 
  • Children were on the roof.  

'did' is used with all Nouns, singular or Plural Nouns in Past Tense where was, were' are not used 

For Example:

  • They did their best. (Past Tense)
  • You did well in the last match.
