The poet describes his experience of hearing rain falling on leaves. Context: This poem is a short, beautiful meditation on the sounds and sights of rain falling on leaves. The poet describes the sound of leaves " drinking " the rain and notes that even the poorest leaves beneath the richer ones are nourished by the drops. It was a sort of creative writing and students were not hesitating to write sentences of their own. It happens whenever I try to make them write creative writing.
